Dan Kalb Gets
San Francisco District 5 Gains Support of Sierra Club, San Francisco Tomorrow & SF League of Conservation Voters Only Candidate and Democrat Backed in District
5 Race August 24, 2004—Today, District 5 Supervisor Candidate Dan Kalb became the only candidate to gain San Francisco’s environmental endorsement Triple Crown when he added a SF League of Conservation Voters endorsement to his environmental mantle. Earlier this month, Kalb secured endorsements from the Sierra Club and San Francisco Tomorrow. Kalb’s dedication, vision and experience were cited as reasons why he earned the support of the three environmental groups. "Over the years, we've watched
Dan Kalb be an effective advocate for San Francisco's urban and natural
environment. Dan Kalb has earned our endorsement,” said SF Tomorrow’s
President and Kalb supporter Jennifer Clary. “It's a great pleasure
to support a strong candidate who has walked the walk for our city's
environment.” • Chapter
Director for the Sierra Club “I’m very honored to earn all three key environmental endorsements,” said Kalb. “The Sierra Club, San Francisco Tomorrow and the local League of Conservation Voters work tirelessly to protect and improve our city’s environment. Those most familiar with my work and environmental leadership know that I’ll work as hard as they do. Together we’ll be able to achieve clean power, green neighborhoods, smart transit, beautiful parks, and less pollution.” The Sierra Club, with nearly three-quarters of a million members, is the nation’s largest and long-lasting environmental organization. San Francisco Tomorrow has worked on urban environmental, governmental reform and livability issues since the 1970’s. The SF League of Conservation Voters, known for issuing environmental voting report cards, made Kalb it’s choice three endorsement.
August 24. The Dan Kalb for Supervisor 5 campaign today filed sufficient contributions to qualify for public financing. With more than 100 qualifying contributions ranging from $10 to $100 from San Francisco residents, the Kalb campaign exceeded the necessary threshold needed to qualify for matching funds. “The breadth of support I’ve received from San Francisco residents is overwhelming. It’s tougher than it looks to qualify for public financing,” said Kalb, who used to work for California Common Cause and has been a long-time proponent of clean elections. # # #
