Endorsed by the Alameda County Democratic Party, Alameda County Labor Council, State Senator Loni Hancock, Assembly Members Nancy Skinner and Sandre Swanson, Supervisors Keith Carson and Wilma Chan, and the Sierra Club, DAN KALB, a U.C. Berkeley graduate, has spent his entire adult life as a public interest advocate, policy analyst, good government reformer, and community service volunteer. He knows how to analyze problems, vet solutions and get things done.
As a Policy Director at the Union of Concerned Scientists in California, he took a lead advocacy role in passing landmark legislation requiring no less than one-third of the state’s electricity to come from clean, renewable sources.
As a Councilmember, Dan’s goal is to reduce crime and bring good paying jobs to our city by making Oakland the clean tech capital of Northern California. Dan will invest in education and job training, protect our environment, and make our city government more responsive and transparent.
Dan has been a Democratic activist for over 25 years, and is a member of the California Democratic Party Executive Board as well as a board member and past vice-president of the MGO Democratic Club.
