Endorsed most recently by State Senator Loni Hancock, Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner and the Alameda County Democratic Party – Dan Kalb, a U.C. Berkeley graduate, has spent virtually his entire adult life as a public interest advocate, policy analyst, good government reformer, and community service volunteer. He knows how to analyze problems, vet solutions and get things done.
For the past nine years, Kalb served as the Policy Director at the Union of Concerned Scientists in California, where he worked to enact policies that are creating clean technology jobs. In 2009-11, he took a lead advocacy role in passing landmark legislation requiring no less than one-third of the state’s electricity to come from clean, renewable sources.
Dan is a board member of the East Bay Jewish Community Relations Council, and a past president of the Raoul Wallenberg Jewish Democratic Club. He currently serves on the Youth Leadership and Community Safety Strategic Planning Task Force for the Oakland Fund for Children and Youth. Dan also has 10 years of volunteer community mediation experience—valuable skills to have on the Oakland City Council. Dan has worked on good government, civil rights and education issues as well.
We need someone with the experience, determination, smart ideas and commitment to community service to make Oakland an even greater city. As a Council Member, Dan will work tirelessly on crime prevention, economic development and growing our local clean tech economy, restoring trust in City Hall, and setting the table for our youth.
DAN KALB will be a strong leader for the progress our city needs!
